There are several reasons why your floors should be properly maintained MAINTAINING

Care Products

The second reason we maintain a stone product is to keep it clean. We should not confuse shine with cleanliness. Just because a floor has a high polish does not mean that it is clean. Mopping should be performed with the right cleaners to pick up the dirt and protect the floor materials intrinsic properties.

The biggest mistake we see with wet mopping is not changing the cleaner. The cleaner must be changed often. This little tip can prevent streaking, sticky floors and the shine will last longer. Also, separate mops should be used to clean the stone floors from those used to clean other surfaces. By following these simple rules your stone floors will maintain their beauty and durability for years to come.

Safety should be at the top of the list when it comes to reasons to properly maintain your floors. We emphasize how important slip-resistance is to a stone floor. Stone flooring is one of the most slippery surfaces available.

Dirt, soiling, dirty mop water and old waxes all contribute the reduction of a stone floors slip-resistance. With proper maintenance you will ensure that your floors remain slip-resistant and safe.

Regardless of the finish type, the main reason we maintain a stone product is to preserve and keep the desired finish. If the desired finish proves to be difficult it may be time to implement a maintenance program, re-think your existing program or opt for restoration.

Marble Maintenance

Common care for marble involves frequent washing with clean water and a soft soap or natural stone cleaner. We recommend using Revitalizer by DuPont. Using a soap or cleaner, wash in small, overlapping sweeps. Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove all traces of soap or cleaner solution. Dry with a soft cloth and allow to thoroughly air dry.

We recommend sealing your marble every year. The best way to test your marble is to apply water onto the countertop , if the countertop is sealed then the water should bead on the surface. If you notice the water absorbs, or if a moisture mark is left, after the water has been removed it is time to seal your marble countertops.

Sealing your marble is an easy process and doesn’t take a lot of time. We recommend using Bullet Proof sealer by Dupont. This can be purchased at our sales room.

Marble countertops are not resilient to many household items. The most problem causing agents are; lemons, limes, oranges, wine (anything with an asdic base) make-up, tooth paste, hair spray, perfumes, chemical and solvent base cleaners and cooking oils just to name a few. These can all cause etching (polish removed from surface of counter) and stains if left un-attended on a marble countertop. It is very important to take care when using any of these products.
Under general household use marble surfaces cannot be damaged by sudden and rapid temperature changes. However, we still recommend using a hot pad or trivet.
Your countertop is not scratch resistant and be scratched/bruised easily. Avoid abuse to the surface by refraining from using sharp objects directly onto the surface. Improper use can result in scratching and bruising.
Acid based cleaning agents should be avoided because they could etch the surface compromising the polished finish. The use of non-acidic cleansers is recommended.
