KEEPING IT CLEAN

The second reason we maintain a stone product is to keep it clean. We should not confuse shine with cleanliness. Just because a floor has a high polish does not mean that it is clean. Mopping should be performed with the right cleaners to pick up the dirt and protect the floor materials intrinsic properties.

The biggest mistake we see with wet mopping is not changing the cleaner. The cleaner must be changed often. This little tip can prevent streaking, sticky floors and the shine will last longer. Also, separate mops should be used to clean the stone floors from those used to clean other surfaces. By following these simple rules your stone floors will maintain their beauty and durability for years to come.

SAFETY

Safety should be at the top of the list when it comes to reasons to properly maintain your floors. We emphasize how important slip-resistance is to a stone floor. Stone flooring is one of the most slippery surfaces available.

Dirt, soiling, dirty mop water and old waxes all contribute the reduction of a stone floors slip-resistance. With proper maintenance you will ensure that your floors remain slip-resistant and safe.

THE FINISH

Regardless of the finish type, the main reason we maintain a stone product is to preserve and keep the desired finish. If the desired finish proves to be difficult it may be time to implement a maintenance program, re-think your existing program or opt for restoration.

Quartz Maintenance

TAKING CARE OF YOUR QUARTZ SURFACE
Common care for quartz involves periodic washing with clean water and a soft soap or natural stone cleaner. We recommend using Revitalizer by DuPont. Using a soap or cleaner, wash in small, overlapping sweeps. Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove all traces of soap or cleaner solution. Dry with a soft cloth and allow to thoroughly air dry. Your countertop is composed of non-porus materials that require no sealing to protect them
STUBBORN BLEMISHES
If you are unable to remove an adhered blemish there is a product named Bar Keepers Friend, this can be purchased at our sales room. We will advise how to use this product at the time of purchase.
HEAT TOLERANCE
Quartz surfaces can be damaged by sudden and rapid temperature changes. Therefore, we suggest that hot pots and pans never be directly placed on the surface. We also recommend a hot pad or trivet be placed on the surface under cooking units such as electric frying pans, crock pots, or roaster ovens.
SCRATCH RESISTANT
Your countertop is a highly scratch resistant surface; however can be scratched. Avoid abuse to the surface by refraining from using sharp objects directly onto the surface. Improper use can result in scratching.
CLEANING AGENTS TO AVOID
It’s important to be aware that like any other surface, your new quartz countertop can be permanently damaged if exposed to strong chemicals and solvents that can damage its physical properties. Never clean your surface with products that contain Trichlorethane or Methylene chloride, such as paint removers or strippers. Avoid the use of highly aggressive cleaning agents such as oven/grill cleaners and dishwasher polishing agents that have high alkaline/pH levels (pH 8.5 or higher). Products containing oils or powders may leave a residue and should be rinsed off thoroughly. Should your surface accidentally be exposed to any of these damaging products, rinse immediately with clean water to neutralize the effect.
